In recent years he has shown himself to still say what he thinks, however he is now more subdued, due to his age and other factors. Through his experience he has gained more respect and is viewed as one of the most important musicians of his generation, therefore his comments, views and opinions have a bigger effect and attract more media. For example, in October 2013 his comments on One Direction made news and attracted serious media attention.
